Handmade Edge-Grain Cutting Boards in Walnut, Maple and Cherry
Handmade edge-grain cutting boards, charcuterie boards and serving boards, built one at a time in Johns Creek, Georgia. I make every board in small batches or to order from black walnut, hard maple and cherry. Prices start at $50.
Built to last
Every board, a considered object
A cutting board is one of the most used things in a kitchen, so I build each one with care: the wood, the grit the surface is finished to, and the oil that protects it.
There are no production lines here. The result is a board heavy enough not to slide, smooth enough to enjoy using, and handsome enough to leave out on the counter. Each one ships with care instructions, and the complete guide to caring for a wood cutting board covers the rest.

Board types
Handmade edge-grain cutting boards I build
Edge-grain cutting boards
Strips of hardwood glued side by side with the long, narrow edges facing up. It is the most stable, low-maintenance construction, dense and durable for everyday cutting. Available in walnut, maple, cherry or mixed stripes.
Charcuterie and serving boards
Wider boards made for presentation: cheese, charcuterie, bread and shared plates. Often the centerpiece of the table rather than just a kitchen tool.
Custom-size boards
A board to fit a particular counter, prep area, sink span or gift. I build edge-grain boards in practical custom sizes and wood combinations. See custom size and wood options →
I don’t make end-grain boards or offer engraving. Custom work focuses on size, wood combination, edge details, juice grooves, handles and feet.
Choosing your board
Which cutting board is right for you?
For everyday prep, an edge-grain board balances durability, weight and easy care. Walnut gives a rich, dark look; maple is light and clean; cherry starts pale and deepens to a warm red-brown. Mixed boards combine those colors into stripes.
- For daily chopping: an edge-grain board at least 5 inches longer than your longest knife. For a 10-inch chef’s knife, that means 15 inches or more.
- For entertaining: a wider serving or charcuterie board with room for cheese, fruit, bread and shared dishes.
- For a gift: a practical everyday size in the wood that suits the recipient’s kitchen.
- For a specific space: a custom-size board for a counter, prep station or sink. Order a board sized to your space →

Why edge grain
Why handmade edge-grain cutting boards?
Stable by design
Handmade edge-grain cutting boards are built from long hardwood strips glued side by side. That construction stays flat and resists warping with simple care.
Low maintenance
Handmade edge-grain cutting boards need only hand washing, drying on edge and oil about once a month. The step-by-step wood cutting board care guide covers the rest. Kept clean, wood is no less sanitary than plastic, as a 1994 study by Ak, Cliver and Kaspar found.
Made for daily use
Handmade edge-grain cutting boards in walnut, maple or cherry are dense, durable and kind to knives. They are built for everyday chopping, not just for display.
